Hi Joe, We have a volunteer orientation on the third Saturday of every month at the Center – at 12:00 noon. Steve Martin will be your host and will explain the whole program. Anyone under the age of 17 does have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian when volunteering at the Center. We would love to have you. Hope to see you at the orientation.

HI I am a college student studyng Amimal Science and would love to volanteer this summer. When is the orientation date in May and do you perfer me to mail you my application or bring it on orientation?
    Thank You!

    • Katrina Bergman says:

Hi Caroline, There are two ways to volunteer – as a student intern or a ‘traditional’ volunteer. Please look at the internship application and summary, so you can determine which program you are interested in. Volunteer orientations are held on Saturdays. Please call the front desk to confirm the schedule for May. They will be posted on our calendar within the next few days too, as we update. If you are interested in an internship for this summer, please call Dr. Adamski to see if we are still accepting applications. Thanks so much for your interest in the Center. I look forward to meeting you! Best, Katrina

Hello. I am a student at umass amherst on a pre-vet track. I live in Ashland, MA and have worked in a dog and cat kennel for the past two years. At school I get daily hands-on experience with livestock animals. I would like to broadan my experience to include wildlife, something that fascinates me the most within the animal kingdom. I have heard off online sources that this wildlife center provides opportunities to intern. If this is true I am very interested in starting now over winter break. I understand this is not a paid internship but is also free of charge. I want to know more about the opportunity. What kind of schedule is to be followed? What kind of work would be done? Can I intern from home? I am currently filling out the volunteer form, but is there some kind of upcoming orientation I can attend or some kind of time that would be best suited for me to visit? I do live a little under an hour away and have a work schedule I need to follow so any information right now would be very helpful, however I can definitely find at least 4 hours a week, probably more, to come down. Please let me know. Thank you.

  11. I am interested in volunteering 2 Days a week 4 hours on Saturday and Wednesday I love all kinds of animals .

  12. Hello Zoe,

The Center gets volunteers of all ages throughout the week and weekend. We have a Grandmother/daughter team that comes in on Thursday afternoon and she is currently in middle school and a Father daughter team that comes in on Sundays, which she is also a high school student. The Center asks that all volunteers can commit to 4 hours a week, but if this is not feasible we will work with your schedule.

Come on down throughout the next few weeks, help carve some pumpkins and talk to other volunteers here about there experience.

    Hope to see you soon,

    Kyle

I’m a high school student interested in volunteering– what is the time commitment of a position? Is it manageable with a junior year schedule?
