Welcome to Gallup! He is Penelope’s new friend. Gallup is a 9 month old wethered Alpine goat.
Gallup was raised and donated to the Center by Jenna Illingworth. Jenna is a student at the Norfolk Agricultural High School in Walpole.
On the first day together Penelope did not give Gallup a very warm greeting. She refused to stand any where near him. If he came close she would run to the other side of the pen. She gave him dagger eyes.
Today, three days later, they are inseparable. In fact last night they held a two goat meeting about how to cause the most trouble as a team. In fact when I did this photo session I went inside their pen to get some close-ups of Gallup. When I bent over, Penelope came up behind me and bit me in the butt.
Goats!

GREAT story!! I met the goats Wednesday–I think they’re wonderful! I’m not quite sure what my ferret thought of them–but their curiosity was definitely aroused. It was a very interesting visit for us all, to say the least. I know I enjoyed meeting the two goats very much…and I also saw the very touching memorial on the outside of the pen. I hope the goats are very happy together–so glad they have each other for companionship
So glad you got to meet them! Hope to see you at the Center again soon.
Awe I’m so happy she has a friend!
me too!
So happy for Penelope! I remember last summer, she was so tiny when you guys got her! Her first few days she was shaking and standing scared in a corner.. When I sat next to her, she just cuddled and fell asleep on my lap! Look at her now!!! Acting all bossy and biting butts
She and her new friend will have so much fun together!
What a great story! I know the goats will be VERY happy……eventually!!
Thanks for you message George! I hope you can see them
